Was it a way for me to prove myself
- this manner in which everything was to be revealed
covered in layers of stanzas, perhaps
but no inner darkness concealed
Is this art how we express ourselves, naked
- or a way in which we displayed ourselves, repainted
making our grayish features into colors
and our contours so much fainter
Was this what we really were
- or just something we'd always thought we wanted
to put ourselves in mystery [misery]
ensuring our poetic ambition granted
for what were we, after all,
without our [published] words?
